As I typed a "catch-up" e-mail this morning to a old friend it reminded me of how far the Lord has brought the the Volpe4 and how faithful He has been to us! I am thankful for the opportunity to serve Him everyday as a ministry family and I love the place he has brought us.
I also want to add that I am thankful for Facebook. It has reconnected me to so many people I thought I had lost:)

for prayer! When a friend is hurting and you just can't find the words and they are too far away to hold and hug, prayer delivers the peace that God is there with them when you can't be. My heart is breaking for a friend this morning, she will remain un-named for now, but please say a prayer for her---Jesus knows her name.

...to finally call my self a home-schooling mommy! Last week Cheyenne and I started working on her new pre-school workbooks. We started a little late, but Cheyenne is catching on quickly and is so eager to learn that I am sure we will catch up soon. I am thankful for a smart girl, who is like a sponge---soaking up every word of this new curriculum, and for the positive time that it is giving her and I together.

Thankful...
Health is being added to the list of blessings today. Yes, my kids( and Bryan) have been fighting off a cold for the past week or two, but I thank God that we have no serious health issues. We have a good church friend that is going in for heart surgery today. Even through this a major obstacle Joe has remained calm and confident though this time. He has been a testimony to all of us around him and I pray that if we ever do have such an extreme trial as his, that I could stand as strong knowing that God is in control! Please say a prayer for Joe and the Nieman family today!

Thankful...
On this day we should all take the time to be thankful for those who have and are serving to protect this country and all that we cherish. I have an incredible amount of respect for all of our military branches and their families. We will never understand all that they have sacrificed to keep us safe. I ran across a prayer that I would like to share with you on this Veteran's Day.
The prayer, entitled "I ask", was written by a confederate soldier. It was recovered from his body in Devil's Den after the battle of Gettysburg.
"I asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
God made me weak, that I might obey.
I asked for health, that I might do greater things.
I was given grace, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I received nothing I asked for.
My prayer was answered.
I am, among all people, most richly blessed."

Thankful...
My next thing to add to the list (which is in no particular order) is this blog. It has been such a blessing. It was created to keep our family and friends involved in our life experiences...even if we were 700 miles away. It has become like a journal. It has helped me through some tough times and has also been a quick and easy way to share the wonderful times. It has become a bulletin post for need prayer and great way to share scripture and bible studies. And though it has been neglected at times...like good friends, we pick up right where we left of with out skipping a beat:)

Thankful...
Not much time for blogging this weekend. Spend one weekend with the Volpes and you would not be surprised why blogging must take a backseat...this leads me in to my blessing for today. On Mondays after busy weekends I am especially thankful for my job...a full-time stay-at-home MOMMY! I work harder than I ever have, and longer hours than I ever have, and I get paid (in money) less than I ever have...but the "perks package" out-weights all the rest:)
Thank Jesus, for the opportunity to do the job I was made for!

Thankful...
This was probably easily predicted but on day two you know I have to be thankful for the awesome family God has given me. And when I say family I am talking about those near and far, from Fla to Va. I am talking about the family I have been born into and all of the families that have taken me in as there own. I am talking about the friendships we have made that most certainly crossed the line to a love that we share like family. I am talking about the bond we have with our church family and and all of our brothers and sisters in Christ. And I am most definitely thankful for the family God built just for me. When Bryan and I joined together...almost 7 years ago...I called him my soul mate, but I really had no idea. We complete each other in ways I never thought. We bring out the best in each other. I guess God though just the pair of us was too boring, because He expanded our family with two of the funniest, wittiest...and loudest kids I know. I love all three of them more than anyone on this earth and I don't tell them nearly enough...I love you and I am thankful for you.

Thankful...
I have been inspired by a friend to dedicate the rest of the blog posts for the month of November to counting my blessings. Hopefully this will occur on a daily basis...but I know yall have heard that before:)
My first blessing, my most important blessing...everyday of the year:
...is how thankful I am for my LORD and SAVIOR, Jesus Christ. With out His life mine would be miserable... and so would those around me! LOL! Jesus is my #1 blessing and the source of all of my other blessings! I love you Lord! Thank you!

A Virtuous Woman
This is a bible study from Proverbs 31:10-31 that I shared with the women from our church at last months Ladies Night Out. I promised to post it for those ladies that missed it. I am a little late, but I hope you will read this, pray over it and apply these values to your own life.
The following passages from Proverbs 31 describe what the Lord finds in a virtuous woman. Following each of the passages I have a statement to help you translate the verse in a more applicable term.
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Statement: She is Rare.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
Statement: She is trustworthy.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Statement: She is constant in her love.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
Statement: She is industrious.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
Statement: She is thrifty and works well with what she is given.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
Statement: She is self-motivated.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
Statement: She is enterprising; marked by an energetic spirit and a readiness to act.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
Statement: She is willing to do hard work.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
Statement: She is willing to work long hours.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
Statement: She does not grow weary during monotonous work.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
Statement: She is compassionate.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
Statement: She is prepared for the future.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Statement: She is a good seamstress; binding things together (not just fabric, but in a relationship). Also I would like to add something that I did not see when I prepared this the first time. The scripture also refers to the clothing that she wears and states that they are fine clothes in the color of purple. Throughout many other scriptures the color purple is a reference of royalty. So along with verse 30 this one also translates to me that she is a child of God...a princess, daughter to the King of Kings.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
Statement: Her husband is a leader; he having the authority and influence over their household.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Statement: She is an entrepreneur; managing organizing and assuming the risks of her household and/or business.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
Statement: She is not swayed by circumstances.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
Statement: She is wise and kind.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Statement: She is duty-conscious.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Statement: She is blessed by her family.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Statement: She is not satisfied with being mediocre.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Statement: She is a woman of God.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Statement: She is praise worthy.
My prayer for this bible study is that it will positively impact the lives of every woman that reads it. That you will save it, share it, post it on your own blogs and Facebook pages and that you will continue to look back on it and draw strength and encouragement from it and grow in your walk with the Lord. He loves His daughters with a love that is stronger than any earthly father and He wants to take pride in our lives. Make sure you a making your "Daddy" proud:)

Piece of cake...
I am well on my way of becoming a jack of all trades. The most recent addition to my resume...cake making:) Thanks to my mentor Chef Cheff (aka Sarabeth Vaughn) and a few courses from the "Youtube School of Cake Making" I have somewhat successfully completed several cakes. I thought I should share a few with the blog stalkers:)
Pray for me my next customer is a picky one...I hope I am up to her standards.

Never a dull moment...
...when the Vaughns come to town.
This past visit with the Vaughn family, even thought it was their longest trip here so far, flew by way to fast. Like I said in my last post, most of their visit here was spent in WV doing VBS, but sometime in that week Sarabeth and I managed to talk our hubbies in to agreeing to a Volpe/Vuaghn family trip to the Safari Park.

Bryan, Cheyenne and I had been once before with my mom and brothers. It was a fun trip the first time we went and nothing short of HILARIOUS the second visit. For those of you who know the Vaughns, you know that where they go a story aways follows. I am not a very good story teller (I think that is why I love photography so much), so I took my camera to capture the comedy. Unfortunately when you are hemmed up in the back (not the backseat...the VERY back) of and SUV with the hatch window open, trying hold your brand new Nikon in one hand and a small bucket of feed in the other, plus your four year old is bouncing up and down on your lap and large safari animals (who act like they have not ate in weeks) are sticking their heads in your vehicle...and some times even trying to climb in the vehicle...it is a little hard to "capture the moment" on camera. But here are a few I thought were good:
Believe it or not...I missed getting any pics of the really good parts of the ride. Like when the ostrich was attacking Sarabeth and Rob stopped the car and locked the window so she could not roll it up. LOL! Good times:) Well Vaughns, as always you leave us counting down 'til our families get together again! And in the mean time we have the stories and memories we made while you were here to keep us laughing until then:)

Down on the ranch...
...Saddle Ridge Ranch that is!
Our family was blessed enough to participate in two VBS programs this year...and back to back might I add:) It was and exausting two weeks but also very rewarding. Our first VBS week was spent in WV at Calvery Southern Baptist Church as a home missions progect. A progect too large for the Volpe Srs. and Volpe Jrs. to do alone...so we brought the Vaughns along too. It was a great week and just as in any mission progect we walked away wondering who was really ministered to...Calvery Southern Baptist Church or the "missionaries".

the latest with the volpes:
There has been a lot going on at the Volpe home to keep me to busy for blogging. My first month of the new photog business was a HUGE success. I was able to book around 10 photo sessions in the month of June. I am so thankful for the blessing to be doing one of my biggest dreams. Praying that the Lord continues to bless True Light Photography.
I also took on a new title in the month of June: wedding coordinator. Who's wedding? ...My mom. That's right--- Va really is for lovers. Mom and Bob tied the knot on July 2nd.
I am not posting pics at this time. I am actually on my phone on my way to a mission project. Promise to start blogging better when I get home.

That's right...we have converted another native Floridian into a Virginia resident! Want to know who the lucky new member of the tribe is? ...MY MOM!!! No blog post can describe how stinkin' EXCITED I am to have her here:) I am so thankful that God has brought her to us, and I can't wait to see all that He has planned for this fresh new start He has blessed her with.

If we are the body...
God has got me thinking about my little hurt finger and I thought I would share with you...
For those of you who may find it odd when Jesus speaks of the rocks crying out his praises (Luke 19:40), let me share with you about how my pointer finger has been preaching to me all day!
(Fore note: I have a minor infection in my pointer finger from a pulled hang-nail.)
In the Bible God refers to Christians as the "body" (1 Cor. 12:12). And just like our own body, all members must be in healthy, working order for the body to preform to it's absolute best. And like wise when even just one member is disabled it will weaken the entire body---no matter how large or small that member may be.
Que---my swollen pointer:)
All day I have moaned and groaned over this little "member". I have found normal, everyday tasks such as typing, buttoning pants and even using the microwave a real chore with this hurt finger slowing me down. Then when in the shower, as my finger throbbed while shampooing my hair, the Lord spoke to me through this finger.
Sometimes when we picture the "body" of Christ we picture ourselves as a small, and sometimes unimportant member...maybe even a finger, or a hang nail :) When we as a member of the body of Christ become "infected" with gossip, laziness, criticism, and an apathy we effect the function of the whole body---disabling it from being productive for the Kingdom of God.
So what to to about the infection....this was my question. If you find yourself as an "infected member" it is time to put on the Neosporin---Christ's love, grace and mercy ( 2 John 1:3).
But if we are the body, why aren't His arms reaching, why aren't His hands healing...

One great thing about being a mom...
...I have two built in models anytime I have an itch to take some pics:)
Check the True Light blog to see the "good ones" from this photo shoot.
Well one model (Cheyenne) was off at Grandma's...so that left Ryker to do the dirty work of being mommy's little subject.
For any of you who think that my kids must be so photogenic and sit right where I tell them and smile perfectly, boy are you wrong!! For every great shot I post of my kids there are about ten others I have of them with their eyes closed, hands in their mouth (or up their nose) and sometimes they manage to slip right out of the frame mid-shot. I thought I would share these cute little "bloopers":
Check the True Light blog to see the "good ones" from this photo shoot.
Say cheese :)
Well I guess I have left my blog viewers in suspense long enough...
And to answer a few peoples questions, NO I am NOT pregnant...but I do have a new baby-a Nikon D3000! Yes, that's right---a camera. But not just any camera, the one that will help me reach a dream I have had for a very long time. In June I plan on launching my own photography business---True Light Photography! You may be wondering about the name---let me explain. Even though Christina Volpe Photography has a nice ring to it, I do not want to be the center of this new business. The Lord has brought me this far in achieving my dream and I don't want to lose focus now. I don't have that much confidence in my own talent but I know that with Christ I can do all things (Phil 4:13). I pray that His hands will be in every aspect of this new business and that True Light will just be one more outlet for me to share the love of Jesus. So, when you are dedicating a business to the work of the Lord what better place to look for a name than in the Bible. During a Bible study a few years ago the Lord showed me this name through several scriptures, but by far my favorite one is 1 John 2:8: "...because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.".
Thank you to everyone that has been such an encouragement to me during this new endeavor. And a special thank you to two great photographers, Jennifer Adams and Anna Weaver, who have been a great help to this little amateur:)
I am working on a new blog for True Light. I know, right? Just what I need--another blog to spend my already stretched time on. I am actually in the middle of working on becoming a better manager of my time, which means I have to learn to let go of those horrible procrastination tendencies that I inherited from my mom:) The new blog is not ready for viewing yet, but I will let you know when it is.
Please keep TL and myself in your prayers...oh, and don't forget to contact me when you are ready for a portrait session:)

The Dacing Queen...
These were taken in April at Cheyenne's first dance recital.
This was her cheering section of about 25+ people...of which included ALL of Cheyenne's grannies---even the two from Fla!
After several failed attempts to upload the video of her performance...I have given up. But you can still see it if you would like. I have successfully uploaded the video on my Facebook page. I did not include the link because you will not be able to open it unless you are logged in to Facebook on your account. If you do not have a Facebook account...GET ONE!!! It is just one more way for you to keep up with the Volpe 4!
Keep checking the blog...BIG announcement is comming soon!
I know I have been a slacker on updating the blog, but that is all about to change!!
Stay tuned:)

Beach Bums...
After Easter we had the opportunity to slip down to Florida and spend some time with our families...and a few days at the beach!!!
We had a great trip and are always thankful when the Lord blesses us with time to visit our loved ones! Next Fla trip is planned for Thanksgiving. In the mean time Hotel Volpe has vacancy for anyone looking for a little R&R in the mountains...summers here are beautiful!!
The first few days of vacation were spent at St. George Island with the Bednareks( my dad, step-mom and brother).
These may be two mountain kiddos, but they are beach lovers to the core...just like their momma!
For the rest of our trip we headed inland to visit with Bryan's family, my mom and the rest of our Florida family and friends.

Easter
And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Matt. 28:5-6
Keeping up with the Volpes!
I finally have a few moments to pay some much needed attention to our blog. So the next few post (that are way over due) are to share with blog viewers our busy month of April...which included Easter, Fla vacation, Cheyenne's dance recital and a visit from the Fla grannies!

New again...
I feel that I have been slacking on my blog resolution. This video was shown to me today and I immediately felt the urge to share with all our blog viewers.
The Volpe family blog is always sure to be displaying pictures and video that show our children and how much we love them. This is also a video of a mother and the bond with her Son. Though my days of motherhood have contained struggles...none compare to the pain and suffering this mother has endured. And in the same sense...there is no greater pride for a mother than seeing her child fulfill God's will for their life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:16-17
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:13

"Jumpy, jumpy!!"
Here's a video of Ryker laughing (finally)...in his favorite play thing, his Exersaucer.
Warning: I am giving all blog viewers fair warning that me chanting "Jumpy, jumpy..." over and over again in this video is rather annoying (and even a little embarrassing), but Baby Boy loves it!

Snow Bunny.
We are having our fair share of snow here in Lexington...and Cheyenne is loving every bit of it. These were taken after a mild shower (about 4-5 in) this past weekend:
Cheyenne tried her hand at snowboarding at Papa Sebby's house this weekend. She did great for her first time, and as you can see in this video, Papa was there to pad her crash landings :)
Rumor has it that we will get 30-40inches this weekend. I will be sure to post if this happens...not like I will be that busy with 3 feet of snow keeping me pinned down:)
